Cloud migration

Azure migration, decided per workload — not by template.

Assessment-led migration of your servers, applications and data to Azure. We make the right call for each workload — rehost, re-platform or refactor — and deliver it against a fixed plan, with the business running throughout.

Microsoft Solutions Partner Azure Migrate & Modernize — funding eligible

A migration goes wrong when every workload gets the same treatment. Lift everything as-is and you carry old problems into Azure — and pay to run them. Refactor everything and the project never ships. The discipline is in deciding, workload by workload, which approach actually pays off. That decision starts with a real assessment: what you're running, what depends on what, and where the cost and risk actually sit.

Opticca runs migrations the way they should be run — assessment first, sequenced in waves, validated before every cutover. We compress the slow parts with AI-accelerated discovery and infrastructure-as-code, and we scope the work as a fixed plan so you see the number before you commit, not after.

And because Opticca is an Azure Migrate & Modernize partner, the entire engagement is delivered through Microsoft's funded program — assessment, migration plan, and the migration itself. The assessment is fully funded; it also determines your projected Azure consumption, which is what sets how much Microsoft funds the migration that follows. In practice, you reach a costed plan with no upfront spend, and a meaningful share of the delivery is funded too.

The five Rs, applied

The right move for each workload.

Not every application belongs in the same migration bucket. We assess each one and choose deliberately.

Rehost

Lift-and-shift to Azure largely as-is. Fastest and lowest upfront cost — right for stable workloads that just need to move.

Re-platform

Adjust to use managed Azure services — databases, app services — for better efficiency without a full rewrite.

Refactor

Re-architect to cloud-native. Costs more upfront, pays back in lower running costs and real scalability.

Retire

Some workloads shouldn't move at all. We identify what to decommission and stop paying to run it.

Retain

What stays on-premises — for now — and how it connects securely to the Azure estate.

Replace

Where a SaaS option beats migrating a legacy app, we say so. The goal is the outcome, not the migration count.

How we deliver

Wave-based, validated, low-risk.

As an Azure Migrate & Modernize partner, Opticca delivers every phase below through Microsoft's funded program. The assessment is fully funded; it also determines your projected Azure consumption — which is what sets how much Microsoft funds the migration that follows.

Discovery & assessment — fully funded

We map every server, application and dependency using Azure Migrate, and surface cost and risk before any plan is set. This phase is fully funded by Microsoft — and it establishes your projected Azure consumption, the figure that determines the funding available for everything after it.

Migration plan — funded

A fixed-scope plan with the right approach per workload, sequenced into waves, with a clear cost and timeline. Also delivered under Microsoft funding.

Migrate in waves — funding-eligible

Replication-based migration with cutover windows planned around the business, each wave validated before the next. Eligible for Microsoft funding, with the amount set by the consumption projected in the assessment.

Optimize & secure — funding-eligible

Rightsizing, FinOps guardrails, and security baselines so the new estate runs lean and compliant from day one. Also funding-eligible, scaled to your projected consumption.

Migration, answered

Common questions.

How much does an Azure migration cost?

It depends on scope. A small lift-and-shift of 5–20 servers typically runs in the low tens of thousands; a mid-market program around 100 servers is a larger, multi-month effort. We scope each engagement to a fixed plan after the assessment, so you see real numbers before committing. Modernization is called out separately, since refactoring costs two to three times a lift-and-shift upfront but pays back in lower running costs. Importantly, as an Azure Migrate & Modernize partner, Opticca delivers the engagement through Microsoft's funded program — the assessment is fully funded and the migration is funded too — see below.

Is the assessment and migration funded by Microsoft?

Yes. As an Azure Migrate & Modernize partner, Opticca delivers the whole engagement through Microsoft's funded program. The assessment is fully funded — and it determines your projected Azure consumption, which is the figure that sets how much Microsoft funds the migration that follows. So the exact migration funding isn't known until the assessment is done, but the assessment costs you nothing and unlocks it. We handle the Microsoft funding process for you.

How long will it take?

A straightforward lift-and-shift can finish in a few weeks. A 100-server, multi-database mid-market migration usually runs across roughly a six-month program. We compress the slow parts with AI-accelerated discovery and infrastructure-as-code, and sequence in waves so the business keeps running.

What's the difference between lift-and-shift and re-platforming?

Lift-and-shift (rehost) moves a workload to Azure largely as-is — fastest, lowest upfront cost. Re-platform adjusts it to use managed Azure services for better efficiency. Refactor re-architects it to cloud-native — more upfront, but better running cost and scalability. We choose per workload rather than applying one approach to everything.

Will there be downtime?

Most workloads migrate with minimal or zero downtime using replication-based tools and cutover windows planned around your business. We migrate in waves and validate each one before cutover, so risk stays contained.

Do you handle the landing zone too?

Yes — and we recommend it. Migrating into an ungoverned environment just relocates the problem. We can establish a CAF-aligned landing zone first, so everything you migrate inherits the right security and governance from day one.

Plan it properly

Know what your migration really involves.

A Microsoft-funded assessment maps your environment, dependencies, and cost exposure — and gives you a clear, workload-by-workload migration plan. It's fully funded, and it unlocks Microsoft funding for the migration that follows.
